William R. Small

William R. Small, age 79, of Cicero, IN died February 15, 2012 at Kindred Transitional Care and Rehabilitation-Bridgewater, Carmel, IN. He was born February 14, 1933 at Westfield, IN to Harold and Eva Maxine (Stepp) Small.

He was a graduate of Fishers High School with the Class of 1951. He then served his country in the U.S. Army from 1953 to 1955. Bill, as he was affectionately known, then worked at Firestone at Noblesville, IN for 27 years. He also hauled livestock for local farmers for many years as well as raising cattle and baling hay. He enjoyed riding horses and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

He married Avonelle D. (Westfall) Small on July 23, 1955. She survives him. Also surviving are two daughters and their husbands: Elaine (Robert) McGuire of Noblesville, IN and Linda "Katie" (Dave) Hodgin of Cicero, IN, a brother: Jerry Small of Noblesville, IN, and 2 grandchildren: Rebecca Hodgin and James Hodgin of Cicero, IN .

Preceding him in death are two brothers: Tony and Sam Small, and two sisters: Joyce McKinney and Betty Jo Castor.

Funeral services will be held Saturday at 10:30 A.M. at Hartley Funeral Homes Cicero Chapel with Rev. Stan Sutton officiating. Burial will follow at Cicero Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 8:00 P.M. on Friday. Memorial contributions may be made to Janus Developmental Services. Visitation
