Ruth Ellen Hamby

Ruth Ellen Hamby, age 74, of Cicero, IN died November 9, 2011 at her home. She was born February 26, 1937 at Noblesville, IN to George Edward and Myrtle (Coats) Leer.

She was a 1955 graduate of Noblesville High School. She then married Boyce Ray Hamby July 6, 1955. In addition to enjoying her role as mother and wife she also worked for several years as a nurses aide at Rollins Children's Nursing Home at Cicero, IN.

Ruth was a member of the Strawtown Community Church. In her spare time she enjoyed sewing, various crafts, cooking and was a serious mushroom hunter.

Surviving her are two sons: Gary Lee (Susan) Hamby of Frankton, IN and Dave Allen Hamby of Strawtown, IN, a daughter: Rhonda Lynn Hamby of Riverwood, IN, brothers: John Leer of Bryson City, NC, Martin Leer of Cicero, IN, Donald Leer of Cicero, IN, and George A. Leer of Bloomfield, IN, 8 grandchildren: Mick, Melissa Rebecca, Ashley, Zachary, Corri, Hailey and Mason and 8 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, her husband, Boyce also preceded her in death November 22, 2008.

Funeral services will be held Monday, November 14, 2011 at 11:00 A.M. at Hartley Funeral Homes Cicero Chapel with Pastor Rick Huffman officiating. Burial will follow at the Carey Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2:00 to 5:00 P.M. Sunday. Memorial contributions may be made to Strawtown Community Church. Visitation
