Russell William Bowman

Russell William Bowman, age 78, of Cicero, IN, died March 31, 2010 at Methodist Hospital at Indianapolis. He was born June 22, 1931 at Cicero, IN to Leslie William and Bernice (Gibbs) Bowman. He was a graduate of Jackson Central High School Class of 1949. He served his country in the U.S. Army. He was a tool maker at Delco Remy at Anderson, IN. Russell was a member of the Cicero Volunteer Fire Department for over 35 years. In addition he served his community on the Cicero Park Board planning and helping build the Red Bridge Park and the Red Bridge Community Building. He also belonged to the Harbour Shores Church and the Cicero American Legion. He married Joan Elizabeth (Warren) Bowman on March 31, 1956. She survives him. He passed away on their 56th wedding anniversary. Also surviving are four sons: Tony Bowman of Quincy, CA, Kent Bowman of Goshen, IN, Eric Bowman of Maryland, and Andy Bowman of Arcadia, IN, 13 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren and two half-brothers. A sister, Delores Mock and one half-brother preceded him in death. Funeral services will be held Monday, April 5, 2010 at 2:00 P.M. at Harbour Shores Church with Pastor Stephen Schultze officiating. Burial will follow at the Cicero Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday, April 4, 2010 from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. at Hartley Funeral Homes Cicero Chapel.
