Oscar Percifield

Oscar Percifield, Jr., age 88, of Cicero, IN died Tuesday, October 19, 2010 at his home. He was born December 13, 1921 at Franklin, Indiana to Perry William Oscar and Bertha Mae (Smith) Percifield, Sr.

He was a graduate of Franklin High School and attended Butler University for two years. Oscar was an owner and president of Brightwood Bakery, Inc. and later worked with Maplehurst Bakery at Avon, IN where he was an instructor. He had served his country in the Army Air Corps during WW II.

Oscar was a member of Cicero Christian Church and assisted his family at AGAPE Therapeutic Riding Center near Cicero. He enjoyed being with family and friends and loved playing golf.

He was first married to Betty Jane (Gregory) Percifield on December 20, 1941. She preceded him in death September 7, 1999. He later married Judith (Ricketts) Heaver Percifield in June of 2002. She survives him. Also surviving is a son: Steven Gregory (Sue) Percifield of Plainfield, IL, a daughter: Cheryl Ann (Jerry) Miller of Cicero, IN, grandchildren: Scott Allen Miller, Michael William Miller, Gregory Percifield, and Christy Loveday, eight great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild, step-sons: Mark Heaver of Cicero, IN and David Heaver of Cicero, IN, 5 step-grandchildren, 4 step-great-grandchildren and 1 step-great-great-grandchild.

Preceding him in death is a granddaughter: Dawn Michelle Miller.

Funeral services will be held Friday, October 22, 2010 at 10:30 A.M. at Cicero Christian Church, 1715 Stringtown Pike, Cicero, IN, 46034 with Pastor Tim Lueking officiating. Burial will follow at Washington Park East Cemetery at Indianapolis. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 8:00 P.M. Thursday at Hartley Funeral Homes Cicero Chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to Cicero Christian Church or Agape Therapeutic Riding Center, 24970 Mount Pleasant Road, Cicero, IN 46034.
