Nancy Hartley

–

Fishers, Indiana

Nancy Ann Hartley (Correll) passed away peacefully on September 11, 2025, in Fishers, Indiana. A lifelong Hamilton county resident, she was born on June 10, 1940, in Indiana and remained deeply rooted in her community throughout her life. Nancy was the daughter of James and Velma Correll of Arcadia, Indiana. Nancy married Ralph Lee Hartley on November 26, 1961, and they shared 53 years of marriage until his passing in 2014.

Nancy grew up attending church and was an active member of Arcadia Church of the Brethren for over 60 years. A devoted homemaker and mother, Nancy dedicated herself to raising her four children with love, intention, and unwavering Christian values. She was a stay-at-home mom for most of their childhoods, providing not only care but also creativity and support. Her home was filled with warmth and activity—she served as a classroom parent and volunteered regularly at school events. Whether chauffeuring her children to soccer games, Girl Scout meetings, speech meets, or band, choir and drama events, Nancy was always present and engaged in their lives.

In addition to being a devoted mother, Nancy contributed to the family’s livelihood through her remarkable artistic talents. For over four decades, she decorated prize-worthy cakes, and for more than 30 years, she hand-painted Bundy Duck Decoys—each piece a testament to her keen eye for detail and love of hands-on work. Her creativity touched every aspect of her life, leaving a lasting impression on all who knew her.

Nancy also worked outside the home during different seasons of her life. She held positions as a secretary at AUL in downtown Indianapolis and later at Nations Title. For a time, she also served as church secretary at Cicero United Methodist Church. Her commitment to service extended beyond her family and career. For many summers, Nancy served as a camp counselor at Camp Alexander Mack in Milford, Indiana—an experience that reflected both her nurturing spirit and deep faith.

Nancy was a supportive, unwavering presence in the lives of her children: Beth (Michael) Deming, Kerri Young, Arika (Seth) Estep, and Devin (Hollie) Hartley. She was a proud grandmother to Beth Young, Spencer Young, Calvin Deming, Gabriel Young, Max Deming, Miles Deming, Aubree Young, Aleis Whaley, Angel Whaley, Corbin Estep, and Emmett Estep; and her great-granddaughters, Astra, Davina, and Alexandria. She is also survived by her brother, David Correll.
Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, James and Velma Correll; her husband, Ralph Hartley; and her grandson, Cameron Young.

Visitation will be held on Monday, September 22, 2025, from 2:00pm-4:00pm at Arcadia Brethren Church, 8989 East 266th Street, Arcadia, Indiana, 46030. The memorial service will follow at the same location, with Pastor Ben Poole officiating.
