Mary Eileen Spidel Spidel Mcbane

Mary Eileen Spidel McBane, passed away Thursday, July 4th, 2013 at Miller's Merry Manor at Tipton, IN at the age of 93. Born Mary Eileen Lewis in 1920 to Clifton and Lucy Lewis, She lived in the immediate area all her life and was loved and respected by all who knew her.

She was a faithful member of Atlanta Christian Church. She loved music and was very active in the church's music department, beginning at a young age when she played the piano for junior church. She was also the church organist for a number of years and even sang alto with The Singing Six in her golden years.

Mary Eileen married Calvin J. Spidel and together they owned and operated Spidel Hardware in Atlanta, IN for nearly 50 years until his passing. She then married Joseph McBane and for almost 20 years they treasured time spent traveling and being with their many friends until his death last fall.

Mary Eileen is also preceded in death by three sisters: Florence Lucas, Betty Lewis and Phyllis Rainey. She is survived by one sister: Virginia Grishaw. Additional survivors include her daughter: Beverly (Jeff) Gasho of Atlanta, IN, her granddaughter: Danielle (David) Laughry of Napanee, IN, two great-grandchildren: Pamela and Kearry Laughry of Napanee, IN, and several nieces and nephews. She is also survived by Joe's family: Julius (Mardell) McBane, Angeline Pryor, Evelyn Carlisle, Cindy Leer, and Steve (Sally) McBane.

A memorial service will be held at Atlanta Christian Church on Tuesday, July 9, 2013 at 10:30 A.M. with Pastor Jody Brown officiating. Burial will occur at Sumner Cemetery near Atlanta, IN.
