Mary Margaret Clemans

Mary Margaret Clemans, age 93, of Strawtown, IN died May 21, 2011 at Riverview Hospital. She was born September 30, 1917 to Alva Raymond and Grace (Bangle) Calhoun.

She was a graduate of Walnut Grove High School Class of 1935. Mary was an active member of the Strawtown Community Church since 1945. She was also a member of the Strawtown Ladies Aid, the Walnut Grove Alumni Association where she served as secretary for many years. She was an avid knitter and enjoyed giving her knitted items to nursing home residents and neighborhood children. Mary assisted her husband in their business, Clemans Machine Shop at Strawtown while enjoying her role as mother and homemaker.

She married Donald H. Clemans on May 29, 1937. He preceded her in death. Her parents, brother: Billy Calhoun, and sisters: Wilda Achenbach and Letha Hines also preceded her in death.

Surviving her is a son and his wife: Douglas (Cathy) Clemans of Vail, AZ, daughters: Donna (Jerry) Scott of Cicero, IN, and Dee (Ken) Ely of Strawtown, IN, a sister: Martha "Jimmy" Lee of Kalkaska, MI, but formerly of Strawtown, IN, four granddaughters: Cindy, Vanessa, Sara and Kamya and eight great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Friday, May 27, 2011 at 10:30 A.M. at Strawtown Community Church with Pastor Rick Huffman and Donald Baldwin officiating. Burial will follow at Carey Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 8:00 P.M. Thursday at Hartley Funeral Homes Cicero Chapel. Memorial contrbitutions may be made to the Strawtown Community Church.
