Lawrence Joe Tansy

Lawrence Joe Tansy of Fort Myers, Florida, formerly of Arcadia, Indiana died July 2, 2013 after an extended illness. He was born June 9, 1929 to Luther B. and Aletha (Ponsler) Tansy.

He was a graduate of Jackson Central High School with the Class of 1947. He then served his country in the Indiana National Guard and also the United States Army during the Korean Conflict from January 6, 1953 until he was honorably discharged on December 13, 1954. He was a self employed owner and manager of Tansy Plumbing & Heating Company near Arcadia, Indiana for 35 years.

Joe was a member of Cicero Christian Church, Cicero Masonic Lodge #199 and Cicero Order of Eastern Star #541.

He married Joann (Blackford) Tansy on October 28, 1951. She survives him along with three sons: Steven (Nancy) Tansy of Fort Myers, FL, Robert (Nancy) Tansy of Loveland, OH, and Larry (Janet) Tansy of Fort Myers, FL, six grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, sisters: Anita Finchum of Noblesville, IN and Suetta Stokes of Monticello, IN and a brother: Dale Unger of Noblesville, IN.

Memorial services will be held Friday, July 19, 2013 at 7:00 P.M. at Hartley Funeral Homes Cicero Chapel with Pastor Neal Brown officiating. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. prior to the services. Burial will occur at a later date at the Arcadia Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
