Kay Frances Abney

Kay Frances Abney, age 77, of Cicero, IN died Monday, July 18, 2016 at Maple Park Village at Westfield, IN. She was born December 5, 1938 at Cicero, IN to Herschel Lloyd and Rosemary Jane (Ogle) Jacobs. She had first worked at Firestone at Noblesville and later at RCA at Indianapolis. She then started a child care business in her home at Cicero that she ran for twenty years. Kay attended the Cicero Christian Church. She was a member of the Cicero American Legion Auxiliary and the Noblesville Moose Lodge. She enjoyed working in her yard, gardening and reading. Her family and friends were grateful recipients of many of her beautifully crocheted items. She married Edmond J. Abney on February 26, 1955. He preceded her in death March 16, 2000. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a sister: Judith Brock. Survivors include sons: Ryan C. (Rebecca) Abney of Indianapolis, IN, and James Abney of Sheridan, IN, daughters: Betty (Rob) Chouinard of Greentown, IN and Rosemary Miller of Kokomo, IN, brother: Donald Jacobs of Peru, IN, sister: Melinda Harris of Greentown, IN, five grandchildren: Steven Abney, Jamison Abney, Amy Atkisson, Shawna Byfield, and Carrie Kershner plus seven great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 23, 2016 at 1:00 P.M. at Hartley Funeral Homes Cicero Chapel, 209 West Jackson Street, Cicero, IN 46034, with Elder John Knapp officiating. Burial will follow at the Cicero Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11:00 A.M. until time of the services. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
