John Charles Lewis

John Charles Lewis, age 92, of Cicero, IN died Monday September 12, 2011 at his home. He was born October 6, 1918 at Arcadia, IN to Charles Lawrence and Ruby Elizabeth (Lee) Lewis.

He was a graduate of Cicero High School Class of 1936. He then served his country in the U.S. Army during WW II. John was a member of Cicero Christian Church and a charter member of Cicero VFW.

He worked at the Sears Furniture Factory at Noblesville, at Eisen Brothers Furniture Factory at Carrollton, KY, at Gentry Cabinet Company at Anderson, and lastly had his own business, Lewis Refinishing Company at Cicero.

He married Delilah Agnes (Keith) Lewis on December 3, 1938, a 72 year happy marriage. Delilah survives him. Also surviving are two daughters: Julia Jane Epp of Noblesville, IN and Georgeanna Kay Snyder of Westfield, IN, six grandchildren: Curtis Epp, Cindy Pryor, Toni Pollock, Cheryl Pettijohn Ed Snyder, and Bonnie Coulter, 19 great-grandchildren 13 great-great grandchildren, and two sisters: Elsie Leap of Cicero and Edith Stepp of Noblesville.

Preceding him in death is a grandson: Mark Snyder, sisters: Georgia Mosbaugh, Mary Esther Hedrick, and Pauline Fox, and brothers: Paul Ziegler, Walter Lee Ziegler, and William Ziegler, Jr., and step-father: William Ziegler, Sr.

Funeral services will be held Friday, September 16, 2011 at 10:00 A.M. at Cicero Christian Church with pastor Tim Leuking officiating. Burial will occur at Cicero Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 4:00 to 8:00 P.M. also at the Church. Memorial contributions may be made to Cicero Christian Church. Arrangements are entrusted to Hartley Funeral Homes Cicero Chapel. Visitation
