Jerry D. Rulon was born on August 9, 1937, in Noblesville, Indiana. Jerry married the love of his life Carol Bishop on May 17, 1959, and they shared 57 years of marriage. His love and dedication to the land was as deep and enduring as the soil itself. Jerry embraced change and new technologies, always looking for ways to improve the land and industry he loved. His generosity touched the lives of many. He was a dedicated member of the Indiana Farm Bureau, Corn and Soybean Growers Associations, Farmhouse Fraternity, and Purdue Alumni, where he made significant contributions throughout his life. He was honored to serve as National FFA Vice-President in 1958. His dedication to improving the land for future generations shone through his many awards and achievements, including the prestigious Indiana Master Farmer 1993 and the families' American Conservation Legacy Award in 2012.
Jerry was a man of faith, serving as a long-time Trustee of the Omega Christian Church. Jerry's love for the land was a testament to his faith, and he was a firm believer in leaving the world better than he found it.
Jerry's zest for life was infectious. He loved to travel, laugh, and was never one to shy away from expressing his opinions. His passion for Purdue basketball and auto racing was legendary. Survived by his sons, Kenneth (Jane) and Roy (Jamie), his granddaughters Jennifer (Zachary Heck) and Kathryn (Gabriel Mancini), his grandsons Nicholas (Kasey), and Neal (Suzy), and his great-grandchildren Arthur, Leonard, Elenora, Michael, Lucy, James, Margaret, Ty, and Gemma, Jerry's legacy lives on in them. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lester and Ruth O'Leva Rulon, his brothers Lee and Doyle, and his beloved wife, Carol.
