James Blazier

–

Arcadia, Indiana

James Bennett Blazier was born on June 17th, 1937, in Carmel, Indiana, and he passed away peacefully on July 30th, 2025, in his residence in Arcadia, Indiana. Known for his diligent work ethic, James, or Jim as he was fondly known, spent over 30 years at Chrysler as a machine operator. Despite his long hours, he also found time to do roofing during the day. He balanced his industrious nature with a deep love for his hobbies. An adamant fan of the Colts, he also enjoyed watching birds and squirrels, mowing the yard, and farming. In his younger years, he reveled in riding motorcycles and playing the guitar for a gospel group.

James held his faith close to his heart, serving as Deacon at Jolliet Hill Baptist Church and Indian Hill Baptist Church, and teaching Sunday School. He had a hand in building a new addition onto the church in South Carolina during his 9-year stay in Hardeeville. Back in his home state of Indiana, he could often be found delighting in the sights and sounds of the trains he so loved. In January of 2007 he became a member of Bethel Baptist Church in Lapel, where he has been attending for the last 18 years. What mattered most to James was his family. He was a dedicated and loving husband to Sue Blazier, his wife of 67 years, whom he married on October 18th, 1958.

James was survived by his wife, Sue; his children, James, Connie, Christina (Gary) Allen, Julie (Jody) Graham, and Theresa (Mike) Massey; his grandchildren, Julie Lees, Susie (Chris) Franklin, Michael Smith, Elizabeth Baldwin, Jared (Michelle) Blazier, Jessica Allen, Kristen Allen, Joseph (Kelsi) Allen, Ashley Roten, Jamie (Nick) Cantrell; 23 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren with one on the way. Siblings John (Anna) Blazier, Ronnie (Sherry) Boggs, Robert Boggs, and Bonnie Kirk. He was preceded in death by his parents, Willard and Dorothy Blazier, brothers Donnie Blazier, Bill Blazier, Rick Boggs and Randy Boggs.

Family and friends are invited to gather for a visitation at Hartley-Dunnichay Funeral Home, located at 209 West Jackson Street, Cicero, Indiana, 46034, on Tuesday, August 5th, 2025, at 12:00pm EDT. The funeral service will follow at the same location at 2:00pm EDT.

We encourage all who knew James to leave memories and upload photos to his memorial page. His life was filled with love, hard work, and faith, and we know he touched many lives in significant ways. His memory will continue to live on in the hearts of those who loved him.
