George E. Leiendecker

George E. Leiendecker, age 93, of Cicero, IN died Monday, June 20, 2011 at his home. He was born October 12, 1917 at Indianapolis to Edgar and Venus (Peck) Leiendecker.

He was a graduate of Ben Davis High School and attended Purdue University studying forestry. He served in the U.S. Army during WW II. He then worked as a purchasing agent for Stewart Warner Company at Indianapolis for 13 years and then as a purchasing agent at Power Equipment at Cicero, IN. Lastly he worked as a procurement specialist at General Electric at Cincinnati for 10 years.

He attended Cicero United Methodist Church. He was a 50 year member of Cicero American Legion, 50 year member of Fishers Masonic Lodge, charter member of Fishers Volunteer Fire Department, life member of Noblesville Elks Club, and a charter member of Faith Presbyterian Church at Indianapolis.

George was an avid fisherman, bowler, and sports fan. He also enjoyed gardening, reading and attending horse races. He created several paintings working mostly in oil and acrylic. George and his wife also enjoyed entertaining guests in their home.

He married Phyllis (Voss) Wallace Leiendecker on February 27, 1971. She survives him. Also surviving is a daughter: Julie Leiendecker (Joseph) Smith of Zionsville, IN, sister: Betty Emrich of Indianapolis, step-son: David Wallace of Noblesville, IN, grandchildren: Scott (Sarah) Wallace, J.P. Leiendecker, Britt Leiendecker, Monica (Eric) Lagerquist, great-grandson: Andrew James Lagerquist, and great granddaughter: Claire Wallace.

In additon to his parents he was preceded in death by a son: Jeffrey Peck Leiendecker.

Funeral services will be held Friday, June 24, 2011 at 11:00 A.M. at Hartley Funeral Homes Cicero Chapel with pastor Byron Fritz officiating. Burial will follow at the Cicero Cemetery.
