George Dunder

George Dunder, age 85, of Cicero, IN passed away November 6, 2012 at his home. However, he had lived in Cicero for thirty-eight years and was seen around Cicero in his wheel chair. He was born April 30, 1927 at Dugger, IN to Fred and Ola E. (Waymier) Dunder who preceded him in death.

George was best known for spreading the love of Christ. He became a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church as a young boy where the church's pianist taught him to play. He remained an active member until his death. He served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He then received a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Emmanuel Missionary College, then later a Master of Science Degree from Butler University while working as a church educator. At his Cicero Church he loved teaching Sabbath School.
George was also an ordained minister and with his loving wife of 62 years, Virginia (Closser) Dunder and his three sons, Terrance, Neil and Roger Dunder he served as a missionary at Tanzania for ten years.

Also surviving him are 6 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren and 5 step-grandchildren, and sisters: Grace Casey, Emma Wallace and Shirley Ann Secrest.

He enjoyed gardening, especially cultivating flowers. He loved reading his Bible, praying, playing the piano, singing and spending time with his family.

Funeral services will be held Friday, November 9, 2012 at 1:00 P.M. at the Cicero Seventh Day Adventist Church with Pastor Ron Kelly officiating. Burial will follow at Cicero Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11:30 A.M. until the time of services. Memorial contributions may be made to the George Dunder Memorial Scholarship Fund that has been established to help support the students of Indiana Academy.
