Edward Harold Olney

Edward Harold Olney, age 74, of Arcadia, IN, passed away June 29, 2016 at his home. He was born October 30, 1941 at Detroit, Michigan to Edward Francis and Marjorie Ann (Bergin) Olney. Ed, as he was affectionately known, was a welder, owning Sun Welding Shop at Arcadia, IN from 1978 to 2012, when he retired. Many people came to him to repair, duplicate, and fabricate items for them. He loved collecting and working on antique cars that he and his family drove in parades and around the community. In addition to spending time with his family he also enjoyed fishing. He married Vicki Jean (Hawkins) Olney on September 17, 1960. She survives him. Also surviving him are two sons: James (Jane) Olney of Cicero, IN and John (Julie) Olney of New Carlisle, IN, sisters: Carol Knowles of Gainsville, FL, Janet Greene of Gainesville, FL, and Joyce Olney of Stuart, FL. Additional survivors include five grandchildren: Jenee' Pallas, Joshua, Jason, Christopher and Jonathan Olney, four great-grandchildren: Gabriel, Ian, and Emmitt Olney, and Emerson Pallas. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister: Peggy Sue Sylvester. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, July 6, 2016 at 7:00 P.M. at the United Methodist Church at Arcadia, IN, with Pastor James Butler officiating.
Visitation will be from 4:00 P.M. until time of the services. Burial will occur at a later date at All Saints Cemetery at Jensen Beach, FL. Arrangements are entrusted to Hartley Funeral Homes where you may send condolences at www.hartleyfuneralhomes.com. Visitation
