Douglas K Bures

–

Cicero, Indiana

Douglas K Bures, a brave, gentle, friendly man, who loved his family, church and community passed away Tuesday, July 10, 2012. Born June 10, 1965 to Jerry and Jeanie (Hall) Bures, Doug was a 1983 graduate of Hamilton Heights High School. Doug enjoyed his family, Hamilton Heights Football and his church, Victory Chapel Community Church where he gave himself to Jesus Christ and honored His teachings. Doug also enjoyed bluegrass music and was skilled in guitar, mandolin, banjo and harmonica. Doug is survived by his wife, Rita (Kathy) Kathleen (Owens) Bures, their sons, Benjamin K Bures and Joseph Owens Bures, his mother Jeanie (Hall) Bures, his sister Christie Bures Boyd (Guy), as well as his mother-in-law, Mary Jo Owens. Doug is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and in-laws (as well as his faithful dog, Lola) who loved him very much. He was preceded in death by his father, Jerry Bures, his grandparents and a great niece. With nearly 20 years employment with Vectren, Doug was well liked by his co-workers. In fact, Doug made friends everywhere he went and touched the lives of everyone who met him. This was no less apparent as he faced cancer without losing his courage or his love of life. Doug was happiest with his family, playing music, traveling and doing projects around the house. He especially enjoyed taking part in sports and 4-H activities with his sons. Even as his illness progressed, he could be found bundled up in the bleachers rooting for Husky football. Doug also helped out his parents who were the owners of The Cicero Corner Tavern for many years. Here his kind nature and easy humor made him a favorite of patrons. He also greatly enjoyed the occasional fishing trip, notably to Reelfoot Lake in Tennessee. Visitation will be Friday, July 13, 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Hartley Funeral Homes Cicero Chapel, 209 W.
