Dorothy Jean Reed

Dorothy Jean Reed, age 83, of Cicero, IN, went to be with Jesus on January 27, 2013. She was born in Wuchow, China on April 7, 1929 to the late William and Eva (Aber) Newbern. She was preceded in death by brothers, Bill and Frank, as well as her beloved husband, William H. Reed, whom she married in 1951. Dorothy is survived by three children: Patricia Wilson, Stephen Reed and Edward Reed as well as six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Dorothy's life was shaped by her childhood in China and she spoke Chinese throughout her life. She attended Nyack Bible College and taught kindergarten during the early years of her marriage. Dorothy was a person of deep faith in Jesus Christ and dedicated her life to making a difference in the lives of those around her. Her greatest love in life was her family and she devoted her all to helping them until the day she died.

Family and friends are invited to gather at Six Points Wesleyan Church at Sheridan, IN from 3:30 to 6:00 P.M. on Thursday, January 31, 2013 with a celebration memorial service beginning at 6:00 P.M. Pastor Steve Martin will officiate. Private burial will occur at Summit Lawn Cemetery at Westfield, IN at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to Six Points Wesleyan Church, 1545 West 226th Street, Sheridan, IN 46069.
