Donald James Whisman

Donald James Whisman, age 69, of Atlanta, IN died January 2, 2013 at his home. He was born October 12, 1944 at Osgood, IN to Hiram Lee and Norma Mary (Gilland) Whisman. He attended Tipton High School then served his country in the U.S. Army. He worked for several years as a foreman at Noblesville Casting Company. He later worked for ten years at Firestone Rubber Company. He retired in 2009. Don was a member of NRA and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and camping. He loved riding his Harley and kept it in top condition. He also relished a good game of golf. He married Penny Lee (Bess) Whisman on February 25, 1983. She survives him. Also surviving him is a daughter: Nicole Letsinger of Noblesville, step-son: Thomas Anderson, Jr. of Oldsmar, FL, step daughterss:Tammy Anderson and Cathy Ely, both of Arcadia, and Lori Zook of Cicero. Additional survivors include a sister: Angie Simons and brothers: Kenneth Whisman, Tim Whisman and Steve Whisman, 6 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother: Ron Whisman and a step-son: Billy Anderson. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, January 8, 2014 at 2:00 P.M. at Hartley Funeral Homes Cicero Chapel with Pastor Neal Brown officiating. Burial will follow at Arcadia Cemetery.
