Donald Joseph Hughes

Donald Joseph Hughes, age 64, of Cicero, IN died Friday, December 14, 2012 at St. Vincent Seton Specialty Hospital at Indianapolis, IN. He was born January 2, 1948 at Noblesville, IN to Donald A. and Harriett (Clifford) Hughes.

He was a graduate of Hamilton Heights High School with the Class of 1966. He then served his country in the U.S. Army. Serving in the Viet Nam War, he received the Vietnam Service Medal and the Vietnam Campaign Medal. He then became a purchasing agent at Wood Wire Industries, retiring in 2008.

He was a member of Cicero Methodist Church and the Cicero American Legion where he had held various offices. Joe was an avid Chicago Cubs fan.

He married Linda Carole (Lockwood) Hughes in 1975. She preceded him in death in 1999.

Surviving him are two sons: Chad Lamarr (Krista) Hughes of Noblesville, IN and Adam Lynn (Julie) Hughes of Cicero, IN, a brother: Jay Hughes of Indianapolis, IN and a sister: Mary Ellen Kazian of Kuna, Idaho, three grandchildren: Kelli Hughes, Adam Hughes, and Owen Hughes, step sons: Gregory Lional Doster of Indianapolis, IN and Jeffrey Laine Doster of Carmel, IN.

In addition to his wife and his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister: Libby Jenkins and two brothers: Andy Hughes and Charlie Hughes.

Memorial services will be held Friday evening at 7:00 P.M. at Hartley Funeral Homes Cicero Chapel with Pastor Byron Fritz officiating. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. prior to the service.
