Donald Edward Foster
May 21, 1938 – October 27, 2025

Donald Edward Foster, 87, passed away peacefully on October 27, 2025, surrounded by family and loved ones. Born on May 21, 1938, to Cecil and Ruby Foster, Don lived a full and generous life marked by devotion to his family, community, and faith.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Jean Ann Foster, his parents, and his daughter Susan Sharp.

Don is survived by his son Andy Foster and wife Michelle, and his son-in-law David Sharp. His legacy continues through his cherished grandchildren — Lainey (Sharp) Timmermon, Sophie (Sharp) Pokrzywa, Cari Sharp, Anna (Foster) Rogers, Margo (Foster) Cook, and Alex Foster— and great-grandchildren Emery Timmermon, Charlotte Timmermon, Olive Timmermon, Foster Rogers, RaeLynn Rogers, and AJ Foster.

Don desired to give back to his family and community throughout his life, and did so as an active member of the Jaycees, the Salvation Army, and Big Brothers Big Sisters. He rarely met a stranger who he couldn’t share a joke or a conversation about IU basketball with. He will be remembered for his ability to recognize the ones working the hardest in a restaurant, his quick wittedness, and always being the biggest fan on the sidelines of sporting events and performances, ready with one of his signature pep talks. His steady presence in the life of his loved ones will be sorely missed.

In lieu of flowers, the family encourages donations to Venture Christian Church in his memory, https://pushpay.com/g/venturechristianchurchcarmel.

Family, friends, and others whose lives Donald touched are invited to the Hartley-Dunnichay Funeral Home, 209 West Jackson Street, Cicero, Indiana, 46034, from 10:00 am - 12:00 pm on Tuesday, November 4th, 2025, to reminisce, grieve, and support each other. A funeral service will follow at 12:00 pm with Pastor Robert Irvin officiating. Burial will follow in Arcadia Brethren Cemetery in Arcadia, IN.

For those who may not be able to attend Don’s service in person but would like to join, the service will be livestreamed below at the time of service.

In these times of sorrow, let us not forget to celebrate the life of our beloved Donald. His story is not merely one of loss, but of a life well-lived, and a man well-loved. As we bid farewell to Donald, we encourage everyone to leave their memories of him and upload photos to the memorial page. These shared memories will help us remember not just that Donald died, but that he lived, and that his life gave us memories too beautiful to forget.
