Clarice Imogene (Carson) (Carson) Nance

Clarice Imogene (Carson) Nance, age 99, died October 8, 2010. She resided on the family farm near Arcadia, IN for 65 years. She was born at Atlanta, IN on April 30, 1911 to Walter and Pearl (Noble) Carson. She was a graduate of Atlanta High School in 1929. She was married to Lester Nance for 67 years. He preceded her in death December 9, 2001.

Imogene was a farmer's wife who assisted her husband and children in raising, breeding and showing purebred hogs and Treeing Walker Coonhounds. Their family showed hogs at the Indiana State Fair for 50 years. Imogene served as secretary of the Indiana State Yorkshire Association and was active with the Indiana Pork Producers Association, 4-H Programs, the Republican Party, the Hamilton County Craft Club, and the Walnut Grove Extension Homemakers Club. She was a Past President of the Hamilton County Extension Homemakers Club. She had worked at the Tipton Tribune and as an educational assistant at Walnut Grove Junior High School. She was a member of the Omega Christian Church where she had sung in the choir.

Survivors include: a son: Alan (Nikki) Nance of North Augusta, SC, three daughters: Janice Lou (Bob) Lee of Tipton, IN, Ann (Bob) Gordon of Arcadia, IN, and Beth (Alan) Snedegar of Vermontville, ME; 12 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. They are: Jay (Cindy) Pritchard of Windfall, IN and children, Codie (Dustin) Dowell and Janice; Amy Miller of Indianapolis, IN and children, Jessica (Rion) Snyder, Travis and daughters, Kheira and Kasey; Rebecca (Doug) Carroll of Savannah, GA and son, Stephen; Deborah Owen and children, Nicole and Meagan of North Augusta, SC; Kip (Diane) Gordon of Cicero, IN and son , Orion; Trent (Heather) Gordon of Arcadia, IN and children, Adeline and Sky; Nancee Scott of Cicero, IN and children Josie and Sophie; Angie (Neal) Fine of Noblesville, IN and daughter, Anna; Mickey (Tammy) Newby of Carthage, IN and sons, Bryan and Benjamin; Tricia Snedegar of Burlington, IA and son Will Gragg; Jamie Merrill and children, Franklin, Lillian and Olivia of Columbus, GA; and Tina (Tim) George of Escanaba, MI.

Deceased siblings are Winifred Margraf, Georgia Morehead, Lowell Carson, Don Carson, and Wayne Carson.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, October 12, 2010 at 10:30 A.M. at the Omega Christian Church. Pastor Neal Brown will officiate
Visitation will be from 4:00 to 8:00 P.M. Monday at Hartley Funeral Homes Cicero Chapel. Burial will occur at the Arcadia Cemetery.
