Charles Leon Strickland

Charles Leon Strickland, age 64 of Indianapolis, IN died January 4, 2015 at his home. He was born October 26, 1950 at Harlan, Kentucky to Troy Leon and Anna (Hall) Strickland. His father preceded him in death. Charles as a graduate of Loraine High School in Loraine, Ohio. He was an auto mechanic owning Strickland Auto at Indianapolis, IN. He also worked for several years at Highway Auto Parts at Indianapolis. He was a member of East Union Christian Church. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He often took them fishing and enjoyed having contests with them to see who could claim bragging rights about catching the biggest fish. He was a fan of NASCAR, drag racing and Indy Car races. His family said he was always helping others. He married Mary Elizabeth (Reed) Strickland on December 28, 1982. She survives him. Additional survivors include his mother: Anna Strickland of Attalia, AL, sons: Charles Leon Strickland, Jr. of Olmstead Falls, OH, Jeffrey Wayne Fields of Indianapolis and Charles David Strickland of Greenwood, IN, brother: Larry Strickland of Attalla, AL, sisters: Joyce Tiller of Attalla, AL and Sue Rivers of Indianapolis, 7 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 10, 2015 at 12:00 noon with burial to follow at Arcadia Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10:00 A.M. until the time of the services.
