Billie Bernardeene Abernathy

Billie Bernardeene Abernathy, age 65, of Cicero, IN died Wednesday, August 21, 2013 at Community North Hospital at Indianapolis, IN. She was born April 25, 1948 at Oliver Springs, TN to William and Winnie Mae (Sullivan) Sullivan.

She was a graduate of Mississippi College where she earned a bachelor of science degree in education and also in social work. She then had worked twenty years as a caseworker in the states of Mississippi and Indiana. She also had taught kindergarten in Mississippi. Lastly she served as administrator of a 120 bed skilled nursing home.

She was a member of White River Christian Church at Noblesville and the Order of Eastern Star. She was a volunteer at Good Samaritan at Noblesville, IN.

She is survived by a daughter: Wendy Abernathy of Golden, Colorado, a brother: Stanley Steven Sullivan of Anderson, IN, life-long friend: Beverly Kister, nieces Paige Sullivan, Sarah McClory, and Jill Kister, nephew: Charlie Walker, 4 great nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister: Kathleen Kay Walker and a brother: Larry Ladale Sullivan.

Memorial services will be held Saturday, August 24, 2013 at 2:00 P.M. at Hartley Funeral Homes Cicero Chapel with Pastor Neal Brown officiating.
