Bessie Green Thompson

Bessie Green Thompson, age 89, of Arcadia, Indiana passed away peacefully in her sleep on December 20, 2017 at her home. She was born July 26, 1928 at Celina, TN to Archie Burton and Eulalia Florence Davis. In addition to being a homemaker, she had also worked as a nurses aide. She was a member of Tipton Church of Christ. A wife, mother, grandmother great-grandmother and neighborly friend, throughout her life Bessie fulfilled all of these roles and more. Those who knew Bessie would say she was a gracious, kind-hearted and generous lady. She gave her love unconditionally and made every effort to make you feel welcome in her home. Her passion was cooking for her family and hosting big family gatherings. Bessie was blessed with a large and loving family. She is survived by eight children: Betty Oliver, Larry (Judy) Thompson, Brenda (Stan) Widows, Gary (Kim) Thompson, Ronnie (Jane) Thompson, Debra (Ed) Wilhoit, Gary (Pam) Thompson, and Donna (Denny) Marcinko, 26 grandchildren, 51 great-grandchildren, 10 great-great-grandchildren, brothers: Earl Davis and Benny Davis both of Celina, TN, and her beloved cat, "Kitty". She married Newman Lee Thompson on October 9, 1944. He preceded her in death September 14, 2007. In addition to her husband and parents she was preceded in death by several siblings. Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 23, 2017 at 2:00 P.M. at Hartley Funeral Homes Cicero Chapel, 209 West Jackson Street, Cicero, IN 46034, with Pastor Jody Brown officiating. Burial will follow at the Cicero Cemetery. Visitation will be from 12:00 noon until time of the services.
