Anna Marie Becker

Anna Marie Becker, age 97, of Carmel, IN died November 19, 2013 at St. Vincent Hospice at Indianapolis. She was born May 5, 1916 at Arcadia, IN to Vane and Jessie (Stanley) Leaming. She graduated from Arcadia High School. She then served her country in the U.S. Navy during WW II. Upon being honorably discharged, she was employed as a clerk at the Ft. Jackson Army Base at Columbia, SC where she worked for many years. Anna Marie was a member of Arcadia Christian Church and the Cicero and Columbia, SC Order of Eastern Star. She was an avid sports fan of all South Carolina sporting events, especially football. She also was an artist, working in oil, acrylic and water color mediums. Traveling was also a passion of hers. She was married to Don Becker who preceded her in death. In addition to her husband and her parents, she was also preceded in death by a sister, Mary Zeiss, a niece and a nephew.

Survivors include two sisters: Jean Barker of Sheridan, IN and Margaret Etchison of Noblesville, IN, several nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews and great-great- nieces and nephews. Graveside rites will be held Saturday, November 23, 2013 at 10:30 A.M. at Arcadia Cemetery with Neal Brown officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to Arcadia Christian Church.
